  I graduated from this school when it was still called 15th Avenue School in the late 80's and the teachers were hard back then. I had homework that would keep me up until 1 am when I was in the the 5th grade because my mom couldn't really help me because of her lack of education. Might I add that i was an honor student most of my years there. I respect the dedication and determination that these teachers have. Especially in Newark those kids need the decipline from strong educators thst care about their future. All in all I graduated from there with honors as well as high school and went to college and graduated with a bachelor's degree. So it is possible for these kids to make it and be better than their parents and surroundings and giving them structure does not hurt.
